Product test: EVERDURE FURNACE 3 – Design meets power
You probably know someone who has one. Or at least you know someone who knows someone who has one. Or maybe you even have one yourself? What? A column grill, of course. The round or square grills made of thin stainless steel sheet that seem to be slowly rotting away in every other allotment garden, on every campsite and on numerous sports fields. If you're smiling knowingly now, you know what I'm talking about. But what you might not know is that this grilling principle is by no means limited to the thin sheet models from the hardware store or supermarket. These grills are even available in good quality. And they can even be upgraded so that they can also be used for indirect grilling. They are manufactured by a German company called Thüros that is actually not that unknown. And we're testing their T4 with a water bowl and BBQ hood as accessories.
Assembly
After just a few simple steps, the device is ready to grill.
Operation
The grill surface of 74 x 42 cm offers plenty of space. The grates are at grill temperature in just a few minutes. A cooking chamber temperature of over 300 °C is quickly possible. The thick aluminum lid also keeps the temperature well. We were particularly interested in whether the grill is also suitable for a BBQ at low temperatures. To do this, we only used one burner on the lowest flame and measured the temperature curve on the opposite side. The lowest temperature that was displayed over a longer period of time was 150 °C. The grill is also particularly easy to clean. Few connection points, rounded edges and smooth surfaces make cleaning easy.
Foldable side panel
Enamelled cast iron grates with integrated grease deflector above the burners
Arched transition from the lid to the grill pan
Grease drip tray
Clear fitting design with good fine adjustment function
Stable wheels
Gas bottle on the suspension
Conclusion:
The Furnace is a perfect grill with an extravagant design and very good workmanship. The fittings are particularly striking. In addition to the good looks, they also allow the burners to be finely adjusted. The lid height of around 15 cm is very low compared to comparable grill sizes. A temperature range below 120 °C, which is necessary for low-temperature cooking, cannot be set on the Furnace without additional tools. The side removal of the fat drip tray also takes some getting used to. There is no storage space for grill utensils, which would also spoil the look. A good, but also unusual solution is the option of hanging the gas bottle on the underside. The grill receives further plus points for its respectable working height of 89 cm.
If you are a grill fetishist, need steam under the hood and value a modern look, the Furnace is the perfect choice.
