Product test: Morsø Forno Spin pizza oven
The extraterrestrial pizza delight
Test: Elmar Fetscher
Stoves, grills, fire bowls, and a pizza oven are part of the product range from Morsø, the Danish manufacturer of fire products. FIRE&FOOD took a closer look at the gas-powered Forno Spin pizza oven and tested its pizza-making capabilities.
Data and assembly
The Forno Spin is assembled in just a few simple steps. Insert the 40 cm pizza stone, plug in the power supply, and connect the gas supply – that's it! The anthracite anodized aluminum housing and the feet give the oven a size of 53 cm (D) x 57 cm (W) x 35 cm (H) and a weight of approximately 17 kg (37 lbs).
Operational
After just a short time (approximately 20 minutes), the pizza stone reaches a temperature of approximately 400°C, even though the burner's power is only 6 kW. The rotating pizza stone (2 speeds) automatically ensures even heat distribution. A pizza is ready in just 1.5 minutes, and the next one can follow immediately, as the stone barely cools down, even though the oven has no door.
1. Holder for the pizza stone.
2. Two controls: one for the temperature and the piezo ignition, the second controls the rotation.
3. The pizza stone is positioned well below the burner, which prevents the pizza from slipping into the burner.
4. A large opening allows for a pizza format of approximately 35 cm.
5. Top temperature display.
6. Electrical connection for the turntable and gas connection.
7. Pizza peel and cover are available optionally.
8. After just a few seconds the dough will pop.
Conclusion:
The Forno Spin impresses with its technology, which makes pizza baking incredibly easy. The Scandinavian design, typical of Morsø products, is equally pleasing. The only drawback is the price, which, however, is more than justified by the long-lasting nature of the product.
The Morsø Forno Spin is priced at €749 (RRP). The current promotional price is €499. More information is available at: www.morsoe.com
