Brisbane will host the World Butchers’ Challenge 2028 (WBC), the largest international competition event in the butchery trade. The Australian metropolis beat out several other bidding cities to win the event. From March 9 to 12, 2028, around 200 of the best butchers from twenty nations will compete for the Victorinox Champions Trophy at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

For the 10th anniversary of the World Butchers’ Challenge, organizers expect more than 10,000 visitors to the event grounds in the city of Brisbane, located on Australia’s east coast. Robert Constable, Chair of the World Butchers’ Challenge, described hosting the event as a great opportunity for Australia: it allows the quality of the Australian butchery trade and domestic meat products to be showcased to a global audience while simultaneously inspiring the next generation of professionals. The focus is on the Australian national team, which, after reaching the podium in the 2022 Sacramento and 2025 Paris competitions, hopes to win the official world title on home soil for the first time. France is the defending champion.

New to the program are the World’s Best Sausage Awards, an independent competition for beef, pork, and gourmet sausages, designed to recognize the craftsmanship quality of one of the most famous meat products.

The event organizer in Australia is the Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC). Registration for the World Butchers’ Challenge, the youth and apprentice competitions, and the World Sausage Awards is already open at: www.worldbutcherschallenge.com.
