On November 4, 2026, the prestigious "The World’s 50 Best Restaurants" awards ceremony will be held in Lima for the first time. This marks the global fine dining event's inaugural appearance in South America.

The Peruvian capital will welcome top chefs, gastronomy experts, and media representatives from around the world for the occasion. Choosing Lima underscores Peru's growing significance on the international gourmet map. It was only in 2025 that Maido was crowned the world's best restaurant, after Central had already secured the top spot in the renowned ranking in 2023. In addition to the awards ceremony, the multi-day program includes the "#50BestTalks" discussion series, exclusive "50 Best Signature Sessions," the traditional "Chefs’ Feast," and other culinary events.

International guests will also have the opportunity to discover the diversity of Peruvian cuisine through specially designed culinary experiences. Peru is considered one of the most exciting destinations for food lovers. Alongside award-winning fine dining restaurants, regional specialties from the Pacific coast, the Andes, and the Amazon region, as well as traditional picanterías, vibrant markets, and cooking classes, all serve as major attractions. The country's great biological diversity provides the foundation for an authentic and innovative cuisine. According to Promperú, gastronomy has now become one of the most important travel motivations for international visitors.
