Product test: Burn a Brettle – The fiery table grill
Small, compact grills are becoming more and more of a focus for consumers. Almost every grill brand now has its "little ones", either as a tabletop device or for "to go". The Swabian grill inventors from Hohfelder in Rosenfeld have come up with a new concept and are presenting the "Burn a Brettle". FIRE&FOOD has tested whether the Brettle is just a fun gimmick or whether it expands the grill equipment category.
The structure
Assembly is absolutely no problem with this grill. Take the board out of the box, put the stainless steel tray on the board, prepare the food to be grilled, light the fuel and you can start grilling skewers.
Operational
The concept is that the Brettle is used at the table, preferably with several Brettle users together. Similar to a raclette, a communicative grilling situation can arise at the table. A small stainless steel tray is fixed to the high-quality Brettle (available in oak, cherry or walnut) and serves as a combustion chamber, over which a grill skewer is placed. High-proof alcohol is used as fuel (80% Stroh rum in the test). To light it, you put two sugar cubes in the tray, which can be easily ignited with a flame. The burning time is controlled by the amount of liquid. The skewer with the food to be grilled can then be placed on it. For the test, we used pieces of meat like those you know from shashlik. However, it should also be possible to hang a smaller steak on the skewer and bring it to the right cooking point.
The skewer can be fixed at three different heights
High-proof alcohol is poured into the stainless steel tub
Conclusion:
A high-quality table grill with fun potential. This is why the grill is so expensive. If you consider that you ideally have several boards on the table, this is a small investment. But we are sure that anyone who values a sociable barbecue can surprise their guests with this grilling method. For the host, the guests also grill their own food - how convenient!
It is very difficult for us to give an overall assessment of the grill, perhaps because there is hardly anything comparable on the market. We would also like to hear your opinion. Please write to us at redaktion@fire-food.com, keyword Brettle.
The Burn a Brettle is available at a RRP starting at 112.50 euros.
