Product review: Miele Dreams outdoor kitchen
Modular and comfortable
Review by Elmar Fetscher
For over 126 years, Miele has been synonymous with quality, sophisticated design, ease of use, and innovative features as a manufacturer of premium household appliances. With its new "Outdoor Cooking" product category, the company is now extending this expertise to outdoor spaces. From grilling and cooking to organizing and refrigerating, "Dreams" is the German household appliance manufacturer's first outdoor kitchen. It comes equipped with a wide variety of modules and a wealth of accessories.
Image: One of many possible configurations: The "Master" version of the Miele outdoor kitchen measures 327.2 x 127 x 68.7 cm (W x H x D)* and consists of the Fire Pro/Fire Pro IQ, Cook, Sear Pro (not included in the test), Store M, Cool, and Wash modules. *The height can vary by up to 3.5 cm when leveling the outdoor kitchen using the feet.
The FIRE&FOOD grill test was conducted at the Miele Experience Center in Gütersloh. There, one naturally notices the manufacturer's other products as well – all high-quality products for which the Miele brand is known. This commitment to quality is immediately apparent in the Dreams outdoor kitchen system. Minimalist design, powder-coated black fronts, stainless steel, precise gaps, and a high degree of precision in the assembly of the modules. Over sixty high-quality accessory options, such as a plancha, pizza stone, grates, holders, cutting boards, etc., bring a great deal of convenience to the outdoor kitchen. The central element of the Dream combination is the Fire Pro, a gas grill with four cast stainless steel burners, each with 3.6 kW of power, in the lower cooking chamber and a rear burner with 4.7 kW. This allows for a temperature range of 80 to 600 °C. The 76 x 45 cm grilling surface offers ample space for a large quantity of food.
A particularly interesting feature is the option to divide the cooking chamber with a heat deflector plate. This creates additional temperature zones within the cooking area. A control display shows the temperatures measured at the grill grate and the hood. It can also display the readings of up to four meat thermometers. The interior of the cooking chamber is made entirely of stainless steel, making it extremely durable. The same applies to the two-part, front-removable grease tray. A cooktop with two burners and a total output of 6.3 kW is available as an additional module. The stainless steel recessed pan beneath the burners and the enameled cast iron pan supports are exceptionally robust. Further modules, including a sink and a refrigerator, transform the grill station into a complete outdoor kitchen.
