Product test: Weber pellet grill SEARWOOD 600
The grill and BBQ machine
Test: Elmar Fetscher
With the Searwood 600, Weber combines smoking and grilling in one device. Until recently, pellet grills were only designed for BBQs up to a maximum of 200°C, but the new generation of devices also offers the option of grilling at temperatures over 300°C. A concession from Weber, especially to European grill masters who want a versatile grill.
Data and assembly
You should assemble this grill yourself. It's a pleasure to open the perfectly designed packaging and assemble the pellet grill, which is largely intuitive. Only a single Allen key is required, and everything is clearly labeled. The pellet hopper is equipped with a smart control (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth), the grilling area is 2710 cm², and the warming rack has a surface area of 1470 cm². Before grilling for the first time, we recommend seasoning the cooking chamber. To do this, lightly spray all cooking chamber components with a mist of cooking oil and season them briefly at full heat.
Operational
In just a few minutes, the oven can heat up to over 300°C. You can even bake a pizza in it. The diffuser provides direct heat (Direct Flame), while a sophisticated heat conduction system ensures even heat distribution throughout the cooking chamber. The die-cast aluminum cooking chamber tray has a downward opening. Below it is a grease drip tray, allowing residue from combustion to be easily disposed of. Remaining pellets in the hopper can also be easily emptied downwards. The Weber Gourmet BBQ System (optional) can be inserted into the two-part cooking grate, as can a rotisserie.
1. Clear and well-labeled assembly set.
2. The digital display can be magnetically attached to the hopper.
3. A centrally mounted temperature sensor in the cooking chamber – there is another sensor for measuring the core temperature.
4. View into the stable combustion chamber.
5. A solid stainless steel diffuser.
6. The upper heat baffle.
7. The two-part grate.
8. Easy emptying of pellets.
Conclusion:
The innovative design of the cooking chamber, a stylish pellet hopper, a smart control system in the elegant, black Weber design, and all of this on a stable chassis, make the Searwood a high-quality all-rounder.
The price for the Searwood 600 is 1,199 euros (RRP), and for the Searwood 600 XL it is 1,499 euros (RRP).
