Successful grilling at the FIRE&FOOD BBQ WEEK
Last weekend, from May 18 to 20, 2023, the international barbecue scene met for the FIRE&FOOD BBQ WEEK at the "albgut - Altes Lager" in Münsingen. Around 5,500 visitors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland used the unique trade fair event in the Swabian Alb to inform themselves, network and celebrate the barbecue lifestyle together.
Europe's No. 1 BBQ magazine FIRE&FOOD invited people to this special barbecue event for the second time - and the well-known national and international grill manufacturers such as Big Green Egg, Beefer, Thüros, Rösle and Weber presented their device innovations to the grip-savvy audience. On Saturday, visitors were able to celebrate "Traeger Day 2023" with grill manufacturer Traeger. In addition to the established brands, young startups showed their high-quality grills - from app-controlled electric grills to grill barrels with a plug-in system. Visitors took the opportunity to take a close look at various models of grills as well as suitable grill accessories. Trade fair visitors were also able to try out many culinary innovations, mainly from the grill spices and BBQ sauces segment. The manufacturers and grill masters on site offered a variety of particularly tasty delights.
With a varied program that thrilled young and old alike, the BBQ WEEK literally set the Swabian Alb ablaze. Exciting expert lectures and the cutting up of a leg of beef drew the masses to the show stage. Participants in the FIRE&FOOD master classes at the BBQ WEEK were particularly pleased to gain new insights - top-class and TV-famous pitmasters such as Lucki Maurer, David Pietralla, Tommy Madel and many others demonstrated their fiery skills and passed on their knowledge to participants in exclusive grill gourmet courses in an entertaining and educational way.
Lucki Maurer and the other pitmasters made the master classes a real event. The courses were one of the highlights of BBQ WEEK 2023.
At the BBQ Night on Friday evening, the stars of the barbecue scene came together to exchange ideas and enjoy themselves. A limited number of tickets enabled visitors to be guests at the BBQ Night themselves and to make contacts with the big names in the industry in a relaxed atmosphere, while enjoying fine roasted aromas and colorful cocktails.
Anyone who wanted to look a little beyond the thematic horizon at the trade fair could get their hair done by a barber, dance to the sound of rock musicians and live bands, or get their money's worth with gin and whiskey tasting and enjoying a good cigar in the Smoke Lounge. BBQ WEEK also had hot ovens of a different kind to offer. Truck drivers gathered for the first time for the TruckerTreff, pickup drivers fried up a meal at the Tailgaiting and at the trade fair you could test drive motorcycles and plan your next caravanning trip.
A top-class competition for professional pitmasters was on display on Saturday. Experienced barbecuers competed in the SCA Steak Cook-Off and the SCA Ancillary Burger Contest. In the fine art of steak grilling, first place went, as in the previous year, to Daniel Raeder from Leverkusen. The exciting SCA competition and the subsequent award ceremony attracted keen interest from spectators, as in 2022. More detailed information about the competition is available HERE .
Anyone who has felt like swinging the barbecue tongs competitively while watching will have another chance next year in May, because the FIRE&FOOD BBQ WEEK will be coming back to the Swabian Alb in 2024.
The conclusion after three days of the trade fair from exhibitors, visitors and the BBQ Magazine FIRE&FOOD as organizer: "The BBQ WEEK 2023 was a complete success. We are already looking forward to 2024!"
