With this award, the "Weekly Market Cultural Heritage" initiative recognizes weekly markets as central places of regional supply, cultural identity, and social interaction.

For the weekly market in Überlingen, this award also confirms its future viability: The people responsible for the Überlingen weekly market are succeeding in creating new impulses and re-engaging people in shopping at the weekly market, despite changes in consumer behavior, demographic change, and increasing competitive pressure.
