Preliminary round of the World Paella Day CUP starts with 36 international chefs

Valencia/Frankfurt am Main, July 30, 2021 - The countdown to the next World Paella Day has begun. As every year, International Paella Day is celebrated on September 20, a day to celebrate the recognition of the most universal dish of Valencian gastronomy. Once again, the World Paella Day CUP will be held to find the best paella chef in the world.

And the preparations are already in full swing. The paella cooks are being fired up around the world, aprons are being tied on and cooking skills are being demonstrated in the preparation of the international dish. A total of 36 chefs from 20 different countries have registered for the preliminary round, which will take place online. The 8 best chefs will then be invited to the final on September 20, 2021 in Valencia to fight for 1st place.

Chefs from Russia, China, the United States, Latin America and Europe have submitted their applications to participate in this second edition of the World Paella Day CUP.

The next steps to winning the World Paella Day CUP
On the website, you can watch all the videos of the 36 chefs competing for a place in the final and vote for your favourite chef until August 15. This year, fans of the competition and paella lovers can use the hashtag #WorldPaellaDayCUP to sing a tribute to the candidate they support in true football style. From then on, a jury made up of professionals appointed by the World Paella Day organisation will take into account the votes, professional careers, calls of support and videos of the participants.

A second edition full of innovations
This year, if circumstances permit, the 8 finalists will be invited to Valencia to participate in the competition in person on September 20th. The winner will receive a trophy made by a Fallas artist, identifying them as winners of the second edition of the World Paella Cup. In addition, the participants will receive a personalized jacket and a certificate confirming their status as finalists.
