Oliver Sievers is the new President of the GBA

Oliver Sievers, the likeable BBQ expert, was elected as the new president by the general meeting of the German Barbecue Association (GBA) in Fulda on November 21, 2021. He succeeds Volker Elm, who served as president of the German Barbecue Association for six years.

Volker Elm wanted a successor from the barbecue scene who would bring a breath of fresh air to the GBA and proposed Oliver Sievers from Bochum as the new president. In his new position, he has also set himself the direct goal of positioning the GBA more clearly in terms of perception, generating more members and ensuring that more people get involved in the GBA in order to further promote barbecues in Germany. It is also planned, as far as the Corona situation allows, to hold the German Barbecue Championship (DGM) again in Fulda on the first weekend in August 2022. Oli Sievers will probably not actively participate in the DGM as president, as numerous other tasks await him in the GBA. However, he would like to remain loyal to his barbecue team, the BBQ Wieseln, and hopes to be able to take part in KCBS championships more often with his team in the future.
